ADRIAN Heath's transfer net is closing in on Stoke City's giant defender Vince Overson.
The experienced stopper is expected to put pen to paper at Turf Moor in the next 24 hours after undergoing a routine medical. Heath finalised terms with Overson last weekend and is now set to add the former Claret to his squad.
The player-manager confirmed: "We are very close to completing the deal and it should be done in the next few days.
"His arrival would be a valuable addition to the squad. I rated him as the best player in his position in the First Division last season.
"Vince Overson is a leader of men and a great character to have around in the dressing room."
Heath is also tracking another target and added: "I've made contact with a club about a young player I want to bring to Burnley.
"He's somebody I rate very highly and there may be some developments soon."
Meanwhile, striker Liam Robinson faces a fitness battle after a groin strain forced him out of last night's 5-0 victory over Ards at Castlereagh Park. He is unlikely to feature against Glenavon as Burnley play their third match of the Northern Ireland tour against Glenavon at Lurgan tonight.
"Liam is very sore after picking up the injury and we will have to monitor his progress before deciding when he will feature again."
Heath was delighted with the second victory of the tour as the Clarets produced a powerful performance against the Irish League part-timers.
Goals from Bambo, Nigel Gleghorn, David Eyres, Torsten Boer and Kurt Nogan secured victory.
"There's still an awful lot of work to be done but I was exceptionally pleased with the attitude shown by the players," added Heath.
"While we were a little scrappy at times scoring five goals against any opposition is good for morale. The fitness levels are also improving all the time.
"Our finishing in front of goal was good against Ards. We could even have scored one or two more but I was happy with the overall performance.
"It was another valuable step as we build up towards August 17."
