RIVERS in the North West were today branded the filthiest in the country.
Farmers, factories and North West Water were blamed as the biggest culprits for poisoning the region's waters with sewage and chemicals.
Figures revealed today by the consumer watchdog magazine Which? showed that more than 1,100 kilometres of river were classed as poor or badly polluted.
