BURNLEY are tracking Glenavon striker Glenn Ferguson.

The tall centre-forward played against the Clarets in last night's 0-0 draw at Mourneview Park.

And Burnley could follow up their interest after the 26-year-old was recommended by Turf Moor favourite Billy Hamilton.

Ferguson has attracted a lot of interest from British clubs with Dundee and Notts County reported to be hot on his trail.

The striker netted over 30 goals for Glanavon last season and is in his sixth season at Mourneview Park. Ferguson recently spent a short loan spell with Austrian side Casino Salzburg and scored the winning goal in a friendly against Bayern Munich.

Manager Adrian Heath was reasonably happy with last night's draw and a result which keeps Burnley's unbeaten run going.

"Glenavon were definitely the strongest side we've played so far and it proved a useful work out.

"These matches are excellent fixtures in our pre-season preparation and the players are definitely feeling the benefit.

"The attitude of the team is very good and I thought our defence and midfield worked particularly hard.

"I'm really pleased with the way the tour has gone. It's a good standard of football and we've felt the benefits of that."

Meanwhile, Burnley's bid to land big defender Vince Overson from Stoke City appears to have a hit a slight hitch.

Overson has been forced to have a scan on his Achilles tendon following surgery last season. "It is just routine and we are still very hopeful we can bring Vince Overson here," added Heath.

The Clarets have agreed a financial package with Overson. Now if they get the all-clear from the medical tests the former Burnley stopper will sign before the weekend.

Defender Gary Parkinson returned home to England today with his wife expecting their second baby.

Burnley are in action again tomorrow when they travel to Belfast to play Glentoran at the 30,000 capacity Oval stadium.

Burnley Independent Supporters Club are holding their first meeting at the Park View pub on Thursday at 8pm.
