THE Citizen recently ran an article about the new two-day market in Morecambe's Queen Street and it was clear there is considerable opposition to this market.
It's a free country, or so I thought, and as far as I'm concerned I have no animosity towards anyone who has a completely different point of view.
I was, and still am, opposed to this market but it is apparently to go ahead and good luck to the supporters of the market.
My views on freedom of expression are not, it seems, shared by Cllr Stanley. In an extraordinary outburst he is reported as saying 'moaners' should shut up or leave town.
Am I alone in finding his comments absolutely appalling and a disgrace coming from a man holding an important council position?
It certainly shows the real face of this council. Dare to criticise the ruling elite for their crazy decisions, like Mr Blobby and the voucher scheme, and you're told to leave town.
I do hope his comments do not go unchallenged, otherwise we might as well all pack our bags.
Mr G Yates,
Nelson Street
Morecambe.
