TIZER is putting the fizz into the World Wide Web.
The 'cheeky' soft drink, beloved by kids everywhere since it was launched in 1924, has popped into the world of technology.
Atherton-based A G Barr, who make the brew, reckon the world is now their oyster with the Web giving people throughout the globe the chance to learn about the drink which has seen sales soar by 18 per cent in the past year.
Incorporating the world's first-ever use of a clever on-line Scratch and Sniff feature, the Tizer web site was created with fun in mind.
In addition young site browsers get the chance to E-mail a wacky post card to a friend.
The World Wide Web scheme is linked to a new £1 million promotional campaign aimed at children between five and 15, with the chance to win hi-tech prizes totalling £150,000.
Nigel Dugdale, the North Road company's marketing manager, said: "Making use of the Internet gives a new, up-to-the-minute means of communicating with kids.
"Millions of them have regular access to the web these days. They are as familiar with it as they are with the alphabet.
"And if we don't talk in their language we're missing a trick.
"The site represents everything we are communicating about Tizer - innovative, excitement and fast moving. And here at Barr's we think of Tizer as being just a little bit cheeky!"
