SYMPATHETIC Leyther's letter misses the point completely (Journal Mailbox, July 18).
People cannot just take the law in to their own hands and carry on regardless of the lawful rights of others. If everyone behaved like this the result would be chaos. The point of the law is that ALL rights have to be respected and balanced.
'Sympathetic Leyther' says that 75 yards is not a long way. I can tell him that 75 yards there and back can be a long way if you are elderly or a mother with young children in the middle of winter.
The footpath must remain open unless or until it is closed by legal means.
