RESIDENTS living close to schools are being urged to keep an eye out for vandals during the long summer holidays.
According to police, empty schools traditionally become a target for bored youngsters who inflict mindless damage on buildings. Latest school to suffer is Bleak Hill Primary, in Hamilton Road, Windle, where a number of windows were smashed.
Now, officers are calling for the support of local communities and parents to stamp out the problem by ensuring that youngsters stay away from school premises during the holidays.
Anyone who sees a large number of youths congregating around school, can contact the police on 0151 777 6999 or the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111. All calls will be treated with confidentiality.
