SCRUM-HALF Shaun Brown has quit Leigh - and gone back to the building site.

The brickie, who has managed only 12 first team appearances since his transfer from Salford 12 months ago, will not play again this season.

His career was jeopardised by two broken arms in the last campaign.

Only in May this year was he was given the all-clear to resume playing.

Now he claims he can earn more money working at his job during summer weekends than he can on the pitch.

"It's a huge disappointment," said Leigh boss Mick Higgins.

"We pay the best we can under the circumstances but Shaun feels he can earn more on the building site.

"If he makes himself unavailable there is not a great deal we can do about it.

"I do feel badly let down. We gave him a chance to kick-start his career after he was going nowhere at Salford. We also looked after him financially when he was out of the game injured for so long.

"It makes you wonder about loyalty."

Leigh are also resigned to having seen the last of David Lyon.

The former St Helens, Warrington and Great Britain full-back, out with an eye injury, is unlikely to play again before he takes up a winter contract with Orrell RU.
