LEIGH RMI are preparing for an onslaught of Celts!

A team from Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic will face RMI at Hilton Park on Saturday (3pm).

And fans are eagerly awaiting this rare chance to see one of Scotland's premier teams play against Unibond opposition.

RMI have already played a couple of pre-season matches...2-2 against Bolton Wanderers, 5-1 against Blackpool.

Meanwhile, Atherton Colls are preparing for next season's promotion push with a varied programme of friendlies.

They were beaten 1-0 by a Bury XI, a fine exercise let down in front of goal.

A Peter Oldbury hat-trick helped them to a 4-3 win against West Lancs League side Turton FC. Alan Shawcross also netted.

The Reserves beat Turton 2-1 with goals from Neil Sumner and Tony Brown.

And it's not going to be easy for the Colls this week.

On Saturday (3pm) Vauxhall Conference side Runcorn are at Alder House and on August 9 Unibond Premier League champs Bamber Bridge visit Atherton (7.30pm).

More than 100 players from Hindsford Junior FC will be attending the Bobby Charlton Soccer School for a week of top-class coaching and pre-season training.

Meet on Monday (8.30am) outside Garratt Hall Primary School, Tyldesley.

Excellent performances over the past couple of seasons have attracted a number of scouts from professional clubs and three boys are currently at the Bolton Wanderers School of Excellence.

Meanwhile, Hindsford are seeking quality players, including goalkeepers. Anyone interested should call 892134.

Also on the lookout is Leigh Victoria, who play in the Leigh League.

Training is at March Playing Fields on Tuesdays (7pm).
