AFTER the bombs in Atlanta and Manchester and the TWA tragedy, I hope people will think about the terrorism we experience in our world.
Last Saturday was a day my wife and I will remember for the rest of our lives. We were guests at the Bowley Scout and Guide jamboree, where 1,200 young people from across the world celebrated this special event.
The opening ceremony was like being in the Olympic stadium, with all the different countries coming together.
It was wonderful to see young people coming together, no matter what their creed or nationality.
When we all held hands and joined in a 'Mexican Wave,' it was truly a moment to remember.
This must give us all hope for peace in our world. All these young people - from as far apart as Romania and Kenya - are a credit to their countries.
I must congratulate all who gave up their time for this wonderful event to take place.
COUN J McGOWAN, (Deputy Mayor of Clitheroe), Whitewell Drive, Clitheroe.
