RAMSBOTTOM skipper Jack Simpson's plan to win the Jennings Worsley Cup at Bacup tomorrow is no secret.

And it's simple - target Roger Harper.

Simpson believes that how Ramsbottom handle the Harper threat could well decide the game.

"We were beaten by Roger Harper at Ramsbottom in the league and we know exactly what we have to do against him," said Simpson.

"If we don't get him early there could be fireworks."

The Ramsbottom captain is speaking from experience, for the West Indies star scored an unbeaten century at Acre Bottom in June.

"We will be confident if we can get Roger out for a relatively low score," he said.

"No disrespect to Bacup but I believe we have the better amateur side and we'll be looking to Chris (Harris) to contribute as well."

Being drawn away doesn't hold any terrors either for Simpson and his team-mates.

"From a financial point of view we are disappointed to be at Bacup," he explained.

"But from a playing point of view we are not overly concerned.

"At our place, we can't usually get Roger out because the wickets are so good.

"And we tend to win at Bacup.

"So we we are quite happy to play the game there."

Ramsbottom still harbour double hopes and winning the Worsley Cup would not only mark the first step but might give them the confidence to push on in the league.

"We certainly haven't given up hope of winning the league," he added.

"Rishton have to play us yet and they also have to play East Lancs.

"I still think it will go right to the wire.

"It's just a pity that last Sunday ended as it did, because Rishton would have lost and we were in a winning position against Burnley."
