COUNCILLORS look set to give plans for a new school in Pendle the green light.
Land off Halifax Road, Brierfield, has been earmarked for a primary school for more than 20 years.
Now councillors seem set to grant planning permission for the school, which will replace Holy Trinity RC Primary School's cramped Victorian buildings in nearby Richard Street.
The new school will include four classrooms, a nursery, a playground and a playing field. An access road off Halifax Road will lead to a turning circle and a car park.
Residents in Halifax Road are worried that land behind their homes, currently used as gardens and for parking, will be fenced off as part of the school grounds, leading to extra parking on the busy main road.
A report to members of Pendle Council's Brierfield and Reedley area committee, which will discuss the plan on Tuesday, admits parents dropping off and collecting their children could mean some parking congestion at peak times, but it would be within acceptable levels.
The report recommends councillors grant permission for the school.
