COUNCILLORS are being asked to call time on a plan to almost double the size of a popular village pub.
An application to build a two-storey extension for a children's play area and add extra space at the back of the Bay Horse Inn, Roughlee, has left a bitter taste in the mouths of local residents and parish councillors.
They have objected to the ambitious scheme and have the backing of a Pendle Council planning officer.
He says the plan should be rejected on the grounds that the extension would be too large and out of character.
There were also concerns from the parish council that the extension would lead to more parking problems in the area.
Roughlee Parish Council claimed pub staff and customers used the nearby village centre car park when the pub's car park was full.
This, they say, has led to some "unpleasantness" at weekend when there were events on at the centre.
But the planning officer said the extension would not lead to the need for extra parking spaces.
A report to Pendle Council's Barrowford and Western Parishes area committee, which will discuss the plan on Thursday, recommends the scheme be refused.
