JOHN CRAWLEY is relishing the prospect of facing former Lancashire team-mate Wasim Akram, and the rest of the Pakistani attack, in the Second Test at Headingley.
Crawley was recalled to the England squad yesterday for the first time since the First Test against India, when he was left out on the morning of the match.
And he has a good chance of making his first appearance since last summer against West Indies with England expected to play six batsmen to counter the threat of Wasim and Wagar Younis after their First Test collapse.
"Wasim and Waqar are both fine bowlers, but they are only human," Crawley said today.
"I have felt in good form even though I haven't made any massive scores and I am looking at this as another chance to book a long run in the side."
Crawley is set to bat at six with Nasser Hussain fit to return to his favourite number three position, although if England decide to play five bowlers he may still miss out.
He will definitely miss Lancashire's Championship game against title-chasing Surrey, which starts on Wednesday, Alec Stewart, Graham Thorpe and Chris Lewis will be missing for Surrey.
