IT is estimated that more than 650,000 people in the UK have some form of dementia such as Alzheimer's Disease. Many are older people, but not all.
Caring for someone with dementia can be very stressful and isolating. Counsel and Care, a national advice agency for older people, has produced a practical, no-nonsense factsheet.
As well as a brief explanation about dementia, it gives practical ideas about where you can get further help and support, such as benefits and home care. It is available free from the address below by sending a 9x6 stamped addressed envelope (31p if possible).
PEARL GREENE, Counsel and Care, Factsheet 17, Twyman House, 16 Bonny Street, London NW1 9PG.
