A NIGHTCLUB owner is planning to bring dancers back to town and away from city venues with regular all-night events.
Andy Wright, owner of Kazy's in Wellington Fold, Darwen, said the town was losing out to Bolton, Liverpool and Manchester as nightclubbers regularly traveled to venues open until dawn.
He hopes to extend his opening hours to 8am every Saturday in a bid to stop the weekly flow away from Darwen.
He said: "Darwen is dying on its feet. The town needs a good kick up the backside to give the young people something to appeal to them.
"We are hoping to open later with dance nights. We were hoping to start the extra opening hours from tonight last Saturday but we had to seek permission first.
"We won't be serving alcohol after 2am, although there are plans to try to allow clubs in Blackburn and Darwen to serve drinks until 4am and we will be hoping to get an extension ourselves."
The club owner said people in the town were crying out for all-night venues similar to the ones they enjoyed in holiday resorts.
He said: "It's about time we came into line with the rest of Europe. If people want to party all night at the weekends, then why shouldn't they?"
Entry to the all-night events will be limited to members only and new membership applications are currently being considered.
