PLAYERS in the region are being urged to sign up for their local BT Football initiative.
The nationwide scheme, designed for players with learning disabilities, is organising 13 regional leagues and events, including one covering the North West.
Patron of the organisation is Gary Lineker OBE, who says: "BT Football is a unique initiative which can benefit anyone with a learning disability.
"It's all about helping them develop their own footballing skills, no matter what their level of ability may be. At the top end, it will also help develop the skills of players to the point where they may compete for their school, county or even country."
"I had many wonderful years from the game and there are more than 100,000 people in this country with learning disabilities who could also enjoy and benefit from our national sport."
