THE World Of Music And Dance 1996 descends on near neighbours Morecambe this weekend and promises the best in live entertainment from all over the world.
The resort's festival, billed as one of the most relaxing weekends in the calendar, is a chance to explore new musical territories as well as taste food from cuisines from across the globe.
For those who want to get down and bogie the legendary Gregory Isaacs will be in the Sea Change Festival Hall from 2pm-11pm on Saturday. He's joined by the Salsa Y Ache, London's hottest Latin dance band.
WOMAD also introduces Ray Lema from Zaire and Ireland's Brian Kennedy. The Belfast-born singer and songwriter presents his remarkable beautiful voice in a WOMAD debut.
And get your dancing shoes on for a free bonanza of performances in the Thirsty World Arena on Sunday and Saturday afternoon. Performances include Ssempeke from Uganda, Tenores di Bitti and Gesuino Deiana from Sardinia, the Boys of the Lough from Scotland as well as Adel Salameh and K Sridhar from Palestine and India. The Shooglenifty band from Scotland, the Well Oiled Sisters and Thierry Robin from France will perform in the Dome. For tickets call (01524) 582803.
