SLEDGE accident victim Stephen Lightbown was among the teenagers celebrating exam success at Darwen Moorland High School.
The brave 16-year-old was forced to take his GCSEs at Southport Hospital's spinal unit after the freak crash in Bold Venture Park seven months ago.
But despite having to under go an intensive course of physiotherapy, Stephen, of Sough Road, Darwen, passed six GCSEs to the delight of his French teacher, Les Drummond, who is also the exam co-ordinator.
"We're very proud of him. He's done ever so well in the face of such adversity and is a shining example to all other pupils. We'll really miss him but wish him every success in the future."
The courageous teenager plans to go to study for an A Level in his favourite subject, Geography, at Turton College.
