MIKE WARBURTON swooped for a try and snapped up two drop goals as Leigh Miners put a lock on Lock Lane.
The rugged Castleford outfit never stopped battling.
But Miners held strong in a gritty Yorkshire recovery to win 18-10.
Warby, working well with half-back partner Stuart Pugsley, to open the Lock Lane defence.
First came the drop, then Tony Dowling, Steve Jackson and John Maxwell blasted through for Warburton to touch down, Winston Sarsfield adding the goal.
Sarsfield was again in the action as Miners poured forward, tapping the ball wide for Simon Unsworth to score. Sarsfield again added the extra points.
The rain blasted down in the second period, and Lock Lane got it together to edge into contention at 13-10.
But Miners blossomed in the sunshine that followed, Dowling sparking the second recovery and Unsworth finishing it off in style.
Lock Lane produced an incident-packed countdown to the final whistle as they tried to snatch an unlikely win. But, despite the refree's whistle stuck on overtime, Miners held out.
On Saturday (2.30pm) Miners are at home to Oldham St Annes.
