ST HELENS and Knowsley Health have confirmed that a Whiston man has died from Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease - often referred to as the human form of 'Mad Cow Disease.'
Brian Davies died in Whiston Hospital on Wednesday, August 14.
The 47-year-old father-of-four had first complained of muscular pain last December. By May this year specialists at Walton's Neurological Centre believed he had contracted CJD, after a sample of spinal fluid tested positive in America.
The cause of death on Mr Davies' death certificate was listed as CJD and bronchopneumonia.
