POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal accident on Bank Holiday Monday. Disabled pensioner, Mrs Marion Dolan of Bidston Avenue, Blackbrook, died when the blue Peugeot 106 in which she was a passenger, was in collision with a 17-ton lorry at the junction of North Road and Crab Street, at about 9.45am.
It took firefighters 20 minutes to free 70-year-old Mrs Dolan from the wreckage. She suffered leg and chest injuries and was taken to Whiston Hospital where she died later.
Mrs Dolan's husband John, who was driving the M-registered Peugeot, escaped with whiplash, shock and minor injuries, while the driver of the lorry also suffered whiplash and shock. Both received treatment at Whiston.
Traffic police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the accident and they can be contacted on 0151 777 6721.
