TWO East Lancashire Sports Clubs were today celebrating after being told they were to receive cash from the North West Lottery Sports Fund.
Blackburn Trampoline Club has received £3,440 towards the cost of updating equipment so its members can continue to compete at the highest level.
And Newrad Fisheries, in Darwen, has been allocated £7,639 to help reinstate a disused fishing lake of Watery Lane providing disabled and wheelchair access.
The two projects were due to receive their cash today as part of a £2.5 million kitty allocated by the Sports Council across the North West. Chris Todd, a coach with Blackburn Trampoline Club said: "Our club started off on the back of a Sports Council grant in 1984 which was allocated to make the club a centre of excellence in the sport.
Since then the club has tried to fund raise to boost its limited resources to help upgrade facilities at St Mary's College, Blackburn, where training sessions are held.
Steve Duncan from Newrad Fisheries said: "The project will cost around £20,000 altogether, and we are two thirds of the way through.
"The lottery grant really helps us to keep things going we are really delighted."
Mr Duncan said the upper lodge would be open in March 1997 after the work had been completed and the waters had been stocked.
