A WINDOW cleaner died after falling off a roof in Clitheroe.
Mr Vincent Lawson, 65, of Simonstone Lane, Simonstone, who had had the Ribble Valley round for more than 30 years, fell as he worked in Woone Lane.
He landed on a concrete base but it is believed he may have suffered a heart attack before he fell.
Paramedics called to the scene gave Mr Lawson emergency treatment but he was dead on arrival at Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
Mr Lawson, known to his many customers as Fred, worked on his window cleaning round in the Clitheroe, Wiswell and Barrow areas. He actually retired when he was 65 but had been persuaded by some of his customers to carry on part time.
His wife Margaret said: "He loved his job and he said his customers were so kind to him that he
couldn't let them down.
"They all knew him as Fred. I don't know why they called him that but it could have been because he was always whistling."
A great family man, Mr Lawson, spent a lot of time with his two granddaughters Kelly and Emma.
When he was not with his family or working he spent his time on his favourite hobby of gardening.
A post mortem examination was due to be carried out today.
Mr Lawson leaves a widow, Margaret, sons Philip and Dennis and two grandchildren.
