The Clarets face a first leg trip to the Valley with a return at Turf Moor a week later.
Meanwhile, striker Paul Barnes was poised to sign for Burnley today for £400,000.
The record Turf Moor deal means Barnes will put pen to paper on a three-year contract if he passes a routine medical at Gawthorpe today.
The 28-year-old centre-forward was at Turf Moor last night for final talks with the Burnley management team and he watched the Pontins League clash against Manchester City alongside team boss Adrian Heath and assistant John Ward. Heath confirmed: "We've agreed everything with Birmingham and we are just awaiting the results of the final medical.
"Hopefully, that should be Okay and then Paul Barnes will become a Burnley player.
"The lad is very keen to come and play at Burnley. He will be a great signing for us and I'm sure he will be a great asset to the the team alongside Kurt Nogan."
The Barnes deal will smash the previous transfer record set when Jimmy Mullen paid Brighton £300,000 for Kurt Nogan in February, 1995.
Meanwhile, Marlon Beresford is a fitness worry for Saturday's trip to Gillingham. The Clarets goalkeeper missed the midweek Coca-Cola Cup first round, second leg victory over Mansfield with a damaged shoulder and second choice Wayne Russell deputised. Heath explained: "We didn't risk Marlon because he was still troubled by a slight shoulder problem he picked up at Millwall.
"We didn't want to aggravate it further because we want to have him fit for the Gillingham game.
"We are hoping a couple of days rest will do the trick and he'll be Okay for the weekend."
Striker Andy Cooke was on the mark with two superb goals as Burnley Reserves clocked up an impressive 3-2 Pontins League victory over Manchester City at Turf Moor last night. The Clarets staged a dramatic second half fightback to record their first win. City had forged ahead with goals from Chris Greenacre and Ray Kelly. But Burnley hit back with a goal from Darren Beckford and two from Andy Cooke - his second a last minute overhead kick!
