BRANDY the dog was in high spirits today, despite being stuck down a cliff overnight - with the rabbit she chased!
The Airedale Terrier gave her owners the slip when she spotted the bunny. They ran after Brandy as she chased the rabbit near Pleasington Golf Course but couldn't keep up.
Despite a search, Mr and Mrs Cook could not find their pooch but when they went back to the area the next morning they heard whimpering coming from bushes on a steep cliff and called the Fire Brigade. An officer was winched down and managed to retrieve the dog - and a petrified rabbit. Sub officer Eric Trotter said: "I think Brandy needed a drink of brandy after what she went through. She had gone down about 20 meters and one of our officers was winched down the 75 degree slope to rescue her.
"Her lead had got caught up in some bushes and she was unable to move all night. The rabbit was also down there with her and it was lucky for the rabbit that the dog was not able to move.
"She was none the worse for her ordeal and didn't have any injuries. We let the rabbit go and Brandy went home with her owners - it really was a tale with a happy ending."
