THE safe haven of the Ribble Valley will be the temporary home for a group of 20 youngsters from Chernobyl for the next month.
The Clitheroe Friends of Chernobyl Children charity has been working hard to make the dream of this first visit a reality and it is hoped that the same youngsters, aged between seven and 12, will come back year after year.
The youngsters, all victims of the man-made disaster of Chernobyl, will be staying with local families and have a packed programme of school lessons and fun ahead of them.
One of their first visits was to Castle Cement at Clitheroe where they are each to be given a new full set of clothing bought by the Castle management and workforce.
