A LETTER of clarification has been sent to Hyndburn Transport staff about job guarantees following the Stagecoach takeover.
A three-page letter from Hyndburn Council chief executive Mike Chambers and TGWU branch secretary John Hornsby was circulated to all employees following a meeting of the authority, trade unions and the bus giant.
Twenty-four hours later a second brief letter was issued by Mr Chambers after Stagecoach corporate director Barry Hinkley asked the council to clarify two points.
Mr Hinkley can guarantee no drivers will be made redundant for 12 months, which is in the contract between Stagecoach and the council.
After this period redundancy is unlikely.
Stagecoach will insist on staff transferring between sites when work is available for them. But they will not insist on anyone retraining as a driver against their wishes.
