AN 18-month-old child was badly injured after he was knocked down by a car his father was reversing in a driveway.
The boy suffered serious head, leg and arm injuries in the accident in Rosemount, Bacup.
A police spokesman said: "As he was reversing the car, the father felt a bump and his 18-month-old son was trapped under the vehicle.
"With the assistance of his wife and neighbours he lifted the car and the child was taken to Rochdale Infirmary and then transferred to Booth Hall Hospital, Manchester.
"He was said to be in a serious but stable condition."
Police are not revealing any details of the family at their request and the father is understood to be distraught.
