I AM writing to recruit readers to join Sally's Gunners, the Mencap marathon team.

Marathon runners are being encouraged once again to join my team and run the 1997 London Marathon to raise money for Mencap's Family Adviser Service. There are good reasons to get involved:

Mencap's Family Adviser Service is being set up to offer support to parents of people with a learning disability - and funds are desperately required;

There are fabulous prizes for fund-raisers, including quality running shoes for everyone who reaches the fund-raising target;

All team members receive a comprehensive running pack.
