GHOSTBUSTING duo Caroline Roffey and Jayne Lawson have taken on a challenge that made grown men tremble with fear.
The fearless Citizen reporter and her sidekick dared to spend a night in the cellar of the Railway Inn in Kirkham, scene of some peculiar goings-on.
Tales of a white lady wandering the premises caught the young women's imaginations and they decided to venture into the murky 150-year-old cellar.
Regular drinkers at the Railway were amazed.
One by one locals approached to offer words of warning, with strong-looking men sheepishly commenting: "You wouldn't catch me going down there at night."
Burly bar manager Gavin Baxter said: "There is definitely something strange about that cellar. I can feel something is there. Have another drink."
Jayne, 24, of Heyhouses Lane in St Annes, said: "Every sound made us panic. We were ready to run if anything scary happened, but always had a camera on hand to capture the ghost on film."
With dripping noises, lights flashing intermittently and a blood-curdling screaming noise at dawn (which turned out to be a cockerel), it wasn't an experience for the faint-hearted.
Jayne said: "At one point, Caroline's face went deathly white as she stared at something behind me.
"Frantically, I demanded to know what it was. 'It's a spider,' she gabbled."
Now a Fleetwood ghosthunter is on the trail of the Railway Inn happenings.
