REGARDING the request by the chairman of the Youth Recovery Fund in the Ukraine for accommodation at Christmas-time for children who suffered from the Chenobyl disaster (Letters, September 13), this person appears to be a self-invited guest.
He is even stipulating the festive period for the group's arrival.
Regarding the children being given the opportunity to breathe clean air, the Ukraine is the granary of Russia; there must be clean air in such a vast area.
Why does the chairman select our area for this request, by-passing the beautiful countries in western Europe? Perhaps the Scottish Highlands or the Yorkshire moors will be suitable in winter for clean air.
