AFTER spending nearly 14 years trying to find out why so many local children leave school scarcely able to read, I am now completing my doctoral thesis explaining what I have discovered. I need help to gather the proof I need, to convince people who couldn't care less what happens to our children.
Would anyone who understands what I mean, when I say that Leigh dialect and BBC English are two different languages, be willing to help me with a research project? I would visit them with some questions for them to answer, to get their opinion. It would help me even more if some people are non-readers, or get bored when reading a novel. Please drop me a line, or leave their name and address at The Journal, Railway Road.
