ST GABRIEL'S almost produced a Coronation Cup sensation at the weekend.
The Second Division battlers went two-up against unbeaten Division One leaders Royal Oak.
But skill came through as Oak forced the game into extra-time and won 4-3 thanks to two penalties.
In the only other cup clash Leigh Eagles A ran riot against luckless Rileys 11-0.
In Division One late goals from subs Draper and Hall clinched a 2-0 win for Punch Bowl against Three Crowns.
West Village forgot their indifferent start to the season to beat Queens 4-3.
In Division Two Church Inn went top after beating Butchers Arms 4-1, thus ending the Leigh & District Amateur Football League's only 100 per cent record. Woods hammered a hat-trick, his third of the season, while Taylor played well in the unfamiliar goalkeeping role for under-strength Butchers.
Carey and Lord netted for George V1 in a 2-0 win against New Inn Rangers, while Union Arms B put six past Leigh Victoria.
