I WAS interested to read your article about MP Greg Pope's visit to a boat yard in Great Harwood (LET, September 12).
Quite frankly, it might have been better if the photo had been taken with Hyndburn's bus drivers trodden down by Hyndburn Council, or maybe if he had shown a little concern for the elderly citizens who have had their meals on wheels taken away by the council.
And a few words on the sale of the Arndale Centre in Accrington would not have gone amiss.
But, no, his silence was deafening.
Greg Pope is just like the rest of the so-called elected members in Hyndburn. If Comrade George Slynn says jump, the only question asked is: "How high, oh great one?"
But not to fear Gregory, old chap, while you are messing about on the river, Peter Britcliffe will look to the real needs of Hyndburn and its people. For, as an MP, you are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
J FARRER (Mr), Mallard Place, Oswaldtwistle.
