BURNLEY'S players travel to Chesterfield on Saturday (September 21) with Adrian Heath's angry words of criticism still ringing in their ears.

The manager left no-one in any doubt about his view of the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of first-division Charlton on Tuesday.

He gave the team a severe post-match dressing down and then apologised to fans who had made the long journey to London.

The challenge now is to forget the Coca-Cola Cup performance and get back to business in the league.

Chesterfield are third in the second division but have a big problem with injuries. Eight players are receiving treatment and are doubtful for Saturday.

Burnley could jump ahead of the Spirites if they can capitalise on their misfortune - and a win would put Burnley within sight of the top of the table.

Damian Matthew, one of the key players in the Clarets' improved performances this season, picked up a knock in the Charlton game, and with Vince Overson almost back to fitness, Heath may decide to change the line-up.

One positive thing to come from the Charlton game was the number of chances Burnley created. With strikers of the calibre of Kurt Nogan and Paul Barnes, it seems improbable that Burnley will have difficulty scoring goals.

Charlton come to Turf Moor on Tuesday (September 24) for the second leg of the Coca-Cola Cup tie (Kick off 7.45pm).
