FUND-RAISING for the Citizen-backed Colin Rabbich appeal goes on with several events planned for the next couple of months.
Eleven-year-old Colin suffers from Chronic Spinal Atrophy which means he can't stand or walk. Seven years ago, the Citizen helped buy Colin a special wheelchair allowing him to get around.
Now he's outgrown that, we're backing a new campaign designed to raise the £3,000 needed to buy him a new one. Local people have already started raising cash but the bulk of the appeal is still to come.
For example:
Raffle tickets will be on sale for the first time in Asda tomorrow (Friday) with prizes such as a colour television, a place on a trip to Lourdes and a meal at the Midland Hotel.
Wednesday October 9, a psychic evening is being held at the Dolly Blue Tavern on West Road in Lancaster between 7pm and 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome with the admission charge going towards the appeal.
Saturday October 12, lunch will be served from 11am until 2pm at St Mary's Church Hall on Mathias Street in Morecambe. There will also be cakes, bric-a-brac and home produce for sale.
Monday November 11 at 7.30pm, a charity night concert will be held at St Mary's Club on Lord Street in Morecambe.
The big one, Friday November 15 at the Headway Hotel in Morecambe there will be a Grand Draw Night complete with entertainment, supper and an auction. Tickets costing just £2 are already going fast.
Appeal committee secretary Pat Fuller said: "It is going very well although it is hard to say how much we have raised so far because everything is still on-going.
"Ordinary people are rallying to help and I have even had people stop me in the street and give me cash. We are still very hopeful of reaching the target."
If you would like to buy tickets for any of the events or more information on the appeal call Pat on (01524) 823541.
