THE intrepid trans-Atlantic voyage of Burnley sailor Neil Eatough will be captured in a seven-part BBC documentary..
He will crew one of 14 yachts taking part in the BT Global Challenge which set sail from Southampton tomorrow week.
Neil, managing director of family firm Dexter Paints in Burnley, has been sailing for about 10 years and his ambition is to complete the race.
He is one of a 14-man team on the Commercial Union Assurance yacht which will navigate the globe the wrong way to arrive back in Britain next August.
Organiser Chay Blyth revolutionised sailing 20 years ago when he became the first person to circumnavigate the globe the work way. He said: "The BT Global Challenge is a unique opportunity for ordinary people to take part in the experience of a lifetime.
"BBC2's coverage of the event from start to finish is great news.
"The seven documentaries will give people back at home the chance to follow this remarkable adventure for themselves."
The first programme will be shown on the day the flotilla sets sail at 5.55pm.
It will look at them leaving Southampton and the crews' intensive training for the challenge.
A further five programmes will follow in November, February, May, July and August.
Finally in September the last programme will review the highs and lows of the epic voyage.
