I DO not think the Government has received enough credit for falling unemployment figures in Britain, from 9.2 per cent to 7.6 per cent, and the number of vacancies is increasing all the time.

Compare that to our neighbours on the Continent. Unemployment in Germany, France and Italy has shown none of the-month-by-month improvement we take for granted.

In Germany, unemployment is up to 10 per cent and in Italy has risen to 12.2 per cent. Britain now enjoys lower unemployment than any other major European country.

Other achievements of the Government are that Britain now has the lowest basic income tax rate for 50 years, the longest period of low inflation, mortgage rates are at their lowest for 30 years and Britain is number-one in Europe for foreign investment.

I do not think the British people will be foolish enough to throw all these achievements away by voting for a Labour government with a novice at the helm.
