AN IMAGINATIVE new competition is running in Haslingden - and the prize is to win your own park!
Action for Haslingden Partnership and Rossendale Groundwork are sponsoring a competition.
Locals are asked to design a miniature park for any area now known as a grot spot.
The designs must be on paper no larger than A3, and should show all the features to go in the park.
These could include flowers, shrubs footpaths or benches.
Finally, on no more than one A4 side, entrants are asked to explain more about their chosen spot. They should detail where the place is, why they want to improve it and what they want to do, also who owns the land, if known.
Entrants, either groups or individuals, must live or work in the Haslingden area and must be submitted, with an official entry form, by October 11.
Anyone with any queries can contact Beth Logan on 01706 830922 or Julia Gravestock on 01706 211421.
The winning design will be used as the basis for building a pocket park on the chosen site, subject to permission.
Rossendale Groundwork will work alongside the winning entrant and local community to transform the paper ideas into a real park.
The winner will also receive £50.
Forms are available from the Action for Haslingden Partnership at Haslingden Neighbourhood Office, Lower Deardengate, Haslingden.
Completed entries for My Pocket Park competition should be returned to the same address.
