PUPILS from Westleigh High School have their eyes set on the turn of the century when they can test out their skills on the proposed Xanadu ski slopes.
And to prepare for the big day they have already started getting themselves mentally kitted out with a visit to a ski shop in Horwich!
The youngsters visited Rivington Ski Services to examine what equipment is available for use on the £150 million project which has five ski slopes and a ski jump planned.
Jozie DeVoy of the Education Business Partnership said: "If the borough is to make the most of the job opportunities presented by Xanadu, it is essential that we start now to identify the skills needed to work with schools and colleges to see that local residents possess them.
"These young people are making their mark in a highly visible way, but when they get back to the classroom their teachers and I will be working to ensure that they reach new heights in their education, gain the skills and come in first when the race is on for jobs at Xanadu.
"These young people may be the first to take up Xanadu's potential for new skills and activities, but behind them are many more, who together with their teachers, will realise a more prosperous Millenium in the borough."
