A GAY rights group is targeting a local Parliamentary constituency as part of a national campaign to demonstrate the strength of its vote.
Janet Anderson's Darwen constituency is one of 30 key marginal seats being earmarked by gay rights group Outrage.
The Labour MP's slender majority of 49 has attracted the attention of Outrage whose key-seat blitz is aimed at electing gay-friendly MPs at next year's general election.
The group believes the gay community can influence voting in marginal constituencies
Outrage claims 10 per cent of voters in an average constituency is gay.
"We urge gay voters to quiz the candidates and vote against any MP who endorses anti-gay policies,"an Outrage spokesman said.
