Carlisle Reserves 1 Burnley Reserves 0
HIT by injuries, and having to play a quarter of the game with an outfield player in goal, Burnley Reserves battled bravely but just failed to salvage a point at Brunton Park last night.
Italian trialists Roberto Vezzosi and Andrei Capecchi both had their first public workout since coming to England and coach Harry Wilson was quite pleased with their performances in a very young side.
Though Capecchi was one of three players who had to be substituted.
A goal down after half an hour, Burnley had their chances in the second half when they were on top, despite losing goalkeeper Dan O'Leary with a head injury.
Philip Eastwood had to take over in goal for the last 25 minutes, as they were without a sub keeper on the bench. But it was Burnley who went closest to scoring after the break.
An inexperienced side was further hit by the loss of Peter Swan through injury. But there several positive aspects to the performance.
BURNLEY: O'Leary (Henry), Vezzosi, Swan (Pennington), Capecchi (West), Heffernan, Bowden, Mutton, Webster, Eastwood, Duerden, Carr-Lawton.
