LEIGH EAGLES A got a thumping on their "day off" from action in the Leigh & District Amateur Football League.
They appeared in the prestigious Adidas Shield comp.
But they drew quality oppoosition in Pilkingtons from the Mid-Cheshire League, and, despite a brave show, lost 6-2, Andrews and Twist on target.
In the Coronation Cup Union B joined their A team in the next round after defeating Butchers 3-2 in a real thriller, Nemis scoring as extra-time loomed.
Royal Oak remain unbeaten at the top of Division One. But they had a tough time against Union A, sneaking in 5-4 despite a hat-trick from Monaghan.
Village Inn move second after putting Rileys on the rack while Blue Lion also moved up menacingly after a home win against Queens.
Three Crowns moved away from the danger zone with a slim win against Village Club, Twiss on target.
In Division Two leaders Church Inn beat Leigh Eagles B 3-2, Woods smacking all three, Kenney and Lee replying.
