ATHERTON LR reckon they have the upper hand on their FA Cup second qualifying round opponents Curzon Ashton.
They beat them 1-0 win on Saturday in a never-say-die display.
Rovers had to battle all the way. But they were well worth their win - courtesy of a Lee Cryer strike on 20 minutes.
The home keeper blocked but couldn't hold Mark Stewart's powerful drive and Cryer finished off in style.
ATHERTON COLLS were given an emphatic lesson in finishing by a rampant Burscough side, crashing 5-1.
Colls took the lead on eight minutes when Steve Wallace's shot was deflected past his own keeper by a hapless home-defender.
Unfortunately, four goals conceded in a 10-minute spell at the start of the second half, bringing a hat trick for Andy Howard, spoiled all the earlier good work from Colls.
LEIGH ATHLETIC, despite missing key players, took total charge to beat Tarleton Corinthians 3-0.
Pressing forward, the opener came from a driving run by Danny Wilson, who was brought down in the box. Gordon Walker stepped up to despatch the penalty into the net.
Rob Lysons added No 2 from close range and completed the scoring before the interval.
Tarleton had the better of the second half, but goalkeeper Steve Hilton and debut ace Mark Yarwood were impregnable at the back.
