HARD times are on the way, warn water suppliers.
Drought measures mean people in the Leigh area will be tapping into Welsh water from a new £12 million pipeline.
As part of an upland reservoir conservation project up to 40 million litres of water a day can be sourced from Wales along with borehole supplies from Golborne.
NWW territory manager Phil Sherratt warned:"In many areas customers will not notice supply changes. In other localities they will recognise a change in taste or hardness of their drinking water.
"In Leigh the drinking waster supply will become relatively hard compared with water supplied over the last few years.
"This is not cause for concern as supplies will continue to meet drinking water quality standards in all respects."
