THE kind hearts of Leigh are helping British troops in Bosnia stay clean.
For donations have poured in of soaps, talcum powder, shampoos and other little luxuries which are normally taken for granted.
But for the troops helping to clean up Bosnia, their time overseas has meant they have been denied these items, until now!
The woman behind the 'Basics for Bosnia' campaign is Mrs. Margaret Mercer of Taunton Avenue, Westleigh, whose son-in-law Stephen Trotter, 24, is with the Royal Artillery in Bosnia. She commented: "The people and local firms around here have been fantastic. We have received donations from all sorts of people, as well as from Regent Hosiery, Booker's Cash and carry , Boydell's Chemists , L & S Cloak's newsagents and Asda in Leigh.
"I have received soap, deodorant, shaving foam, shampoo and other items, and there have been individual donations to Cloak's newsagents shop and The Journal office, and I would like to thank everyone for their kindness."
Items can still be left at The Journal office in Railway Road, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, or Cloak's newsagents.
