A SCHOOL has been described as being exceptionally effective and excellent value for money, following a visit by inspectors.
St Thomas's Primary School, Blackburn, has pupils who achieve standards equal to and above the national average in English, maths and science, according to the Ofsted report.
It said a key feature of the school was the consistently good achievement across the whole curriculum and full ability range, including those with special educational needs.
Inspectors also found a high degree of racial harmony within the school, with pupils showing respect for the feelings and beliefs of others. Teaching was also praised, with staff being highly motivated with secure subject knowledge.
Teachers are said to provide good role models for their pupils and help them develop the difference between right and wrong.
The report said the school was exceptionally well managed with the governors, head, deputy and staff working together to ensure effective running.
Chairman of governors County Councillor Harold White, said: "We are delighted to have received such a good Ofsted report. Credit must go to the staff and pupils at our school who obviously made a very good impression. We will take all his suggestions into account and try to achieve even more in the future.
"This report confirms what I and my fellow governors have known for some time - St Thomas's is an excellent school."
