Big match preview: Burnley v Bristol City
LEADING scorer Kurt Nogan is an injury doubt for tomorrow's Division Two joust against Bristol City at Turf Moor.
The Clarets number nine has not trained since suffering a "dead leg" in the Coca-Cola Cup tie against Charlton.
"Kurt will have a fitness test tomorrow but we are quite hopeful that he will be play," confirmed assistant manager John Ward. "We are just hoping that the few days rest has done the trick."
But Marlon Beresford is back in the frame for tomorrow.
Burnley's number one goalkeeper has made significant progress from the shoulder injury which forced him out of the 0-0 draw at Chesterfield and the midweek Coca-Cola Cup action.
"The shoulder appears to be a lot better and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I should be able to play against Bristol," revealed Beresford.
But there was bleaker news for midfielder Damian Matthew and utility man Gerry Harrison. The pair were both ruled out of Heath's starting line-up today. Peter Swan is also definitely out of contention after injuring a hamstring in the Pontins League fixture at Carlisle on Wednesday.
"The injuries are piling up all of a sudden and we will be without those players tomorrow, " added Ward.
"Bristol will present a tough test but we are building on a three game unbeaten sequence in the league."
Turf Moor chief Adrian Heath had hoped to have an extra face in his squad for tomorrow's clash but it appears it will be the middle of next week before Heath will be able to report any concrete progress.
Bristol City have had a mixed start to the campaign and went out of the Coca-Cola Cup at the hands of First Division Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.
Burnley will choose from: Beresford, Russell, Parkinson, Eyres, Hoyland, Overson, Winstanley, Brass, Weller, Smith, Harrison, Matthew, Nogan, Barnes, Gleghorn, Cooke.
Bristol City select from: Naylor, Owers, Barnard, Edwards, Taylor, Hewlett, Goodridge, Carey, Agostino, Tinnion, Nugent, Seal, Kuhl, McLeary.
