THEY had put it off for 20 years - but at last a local folk trio have finally come out of the recording studio with their first album.
And "Counting the Bars" - the title of Moorland Folk's release - does not necessarily refer to music, more the hostelries they frequent!
The lads - Blackburn vet Dave Higginson, Des Powell a personnel officer from Rishton, and Dylan Owen from Oswaldtwistle, who works in eduction - play purely for fun, usually off the cuff and virtually unrehearsed.
Well known around the local pubs, the lads were pressured into making an album after requests for "a tape" from their audiences.
They recorded at the Shamrock Recording Studios, Balderstone, and in addition to a tape, they decided to go all the way and produce a CD.
The album/CD contains oldies such as Leaving of Liverpool, Run for Home, and other folksy songs.
Tapes at £5 and CDs at £10 are available from Dave's practice at The Veterinary Health Centre, Daisy Street, Blackburn, and at Blackburn Record Exchange, Higher Church Street. For booking information contact Dave on 01254 57096.
